Eric Sanders is a painter based in Los Angeles, California. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Sanders initially learned to paint from his father, who was an accomplished amateur painter. Sanders painted throughout his childhood and into early adulthood before focusing his attention on building a career. Since making a return to art, Sanders has established himself as an innovative and distinctive presence in the vibrant Los Angeles contemporary art scene. An artist with an extensive repertoire of skills, Sanders mixes traditional oil painting, drawing, and printmaking with the latest digital art technologies to create unique, striking works that blur the lines between abstraction and figuration.
Sanders’ unique visual language is the result of his deep reverence for the canon of art history, combined with his experience with the atelier model of in-studio learning. Sanders’ work draws inspiration from the presence of art in the everyday world around him, as well as from groundbreaking artists of the past; including Pablo Picasso, Marcel Duchamp, and Gerhard Richter.
Sander’s work has been exhibited in a variety of solo and group exhibitions, as well as numerous benefit auctions and art fairs. He was honored with his first institutional solo exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in 2023. Sanders had solo shows in Los Angeles at Eastern Projects Gallery in 2019 and 2023. Most recently, he had a solo exhibition at Mary G. Hardin Center for Cultural Arts. He has also been a featured artist at prestigious art fairs, such as Art Basel Miami and the LA Art Show.
